At Roeser Homes, not a day goes by where we don’t get questions from prospective homeowners and current clients. So, we decided to dive into the questions you want answered — straight from the source. Whether it's expert advice, behind-the-scenes insights, or just the things you're curious about, owner Austin Roeser’s got you covered. Let's get into it! 1) How do you define custom homes? What exactly does customization mean to Roeser Homes?AR: A custom home is when you can’t find what you’re looking for in the open market and decide you want to build exactly what you want from scratch. The good thing about custom homes — Roeser Homes specializes in building them! We like to think of customization as the opportunity to do whatever you want within your budget. We offer many design meetings that ultimately get us to that place. A place where we’ve created a perfect replica from your mind. Through thoughtfully scheduled meetings, we are always tweaking that design along the way, making desired changes to ultimately craft that “custom” home. 2) What sets you apart from other home builders? AR: Transparency and communication are our cornerstones. We provide prompt pricing for every change, upgrade, or custom design to our clients ensuring it’s readily available to make prompt decisions. We even post our pricing online so future clients have this important information. From the very beginning, we prioritize timely and open communication. We swiftly respond to client inquiries and pricing questions, and we actively engage in regular meetings with our clients to maintain a transparent dialogue. We set up numerous meetings to keep communication flowing and ensure that no questions — or concerns — go unaddressed. We embrace various communication channels in today’s digital age, including text messages, phone calls, and our online software that records all interactions. Weekly updates are also provided to our buyers, keeping them informed about the progress of their home and the expected work for the following week. Our staff actively engages in internal discussions to share information about every home, which fosters a collaborative and aligned approach. In addition to these communication tools and processes, we encourage our clients to reach out to us whenever they have any concerns or questions, ensuring that we address their needs promptly and professionally. 3) What has been Roeser Homes’ biggest success story? AR: I would say that our organic and continued growth over the last 20+ years has provided countless contractors, real estate agents, developers, designers, and anyone in the home building industry the reliability of solid work and pay. It’s also provided a safe, fun, and welcoming environment for all staff and family. Bottom line? We love to build homes, have fun, and build beautiful homes for our clients. It’s not any one home that provides “success,” but rather the collection of hundreds and hundreds of happy homeowners over the last two-plus decades that could be our biggest success story. 4) Are there additional fees for making design changes during the build? AR: Changing your mind during the build is bound to happen. The good thing is, we don’t charge for it. If it’s not been ordered or installed we allow you to change selections with our vendors. Of course, some changes will require other changes due to the complexity of building. Those changes would incur additional costs, but only for the change itself. We pride ourselves on providing buyers their dream home and are aware that things change along the way. This is why Roeser Homes and customization have become synonymous with building custom homes. 5) What kind of warranty do you provide on your homes? AR: We provide a one-year warranty on all items in the home. We also help assist warranty requests outside this period that may be required on other products via their manufacturer’s warranty. We have excellent working relationships with all of our local vendors that assist even when items may have fallen outside a warranty period. Just last month, we provided a free service to a past client whose garage door spring had broken two years after move-in. While he was quoted over a thousand dollars by an outside vendor to fix, we reached back out to our supplier and had it fixed for free within the week.We also handle our warranty process via our easy to use online scheduling software, BuildTrend. We have a warranty submittal period at 90 days and 11 months to submit all warranty claims. We also have automated emails reminding our clients of their warranty submittal period so no claims are missed or forgotten. 6) When it comes to construction, do you currently have a favorite neighborhood, JoCo microcosm, or ‘burb? AR: I’ve always been fond of Cedar Creek. It’s located just outside the city in Olathe, KS and provides a mix of higher-end housing, maintenance provided villas, multiple pools, walking trails, pickleball courts, and abundant landscaping! The area provides the calm, peaceful tranquility buyers need after a busy day of work. Lush and lined with trees, it’s far removed from the concrete landscape of the city. It’s been a wonderful, master-planned community that has multiple lots from which to choose — and attached to a world-class golf course! 7) Finally, ‘fess up - what's your most frequently asked question? AR: “How much does it cost if we…?”
